Dogs in Heaven

Lord, I am still so sad about Zeke...

It's interesting: the only two animals in all of creation that become our friends and companions (they do things with us, they go on adventures and journeys) – it's dogs and horses. There is a connection and a friendship there that you don't see anywhere else.

What are these creatures roles in the kingdom (new heavens, new earth)? Surely there will be some sort of continuity? It's difficult to imagine the kingdom without animals. Will our most faithful friends / companions – the ones that model an aspect of the kingdom, namely faith, loyalty, allegiance, steadfastness – will they not have some place / role?
