Gender Roles

Strikes me that even in a culture that no longer believes in gender roles, we really still do. Illustrate:

• How many single women in 40s want to be married? (Lots)
• Why aren't they? They're probably going to say they never found the right guy... (and there is probably truth to that)
• But if you ask: Did you ever find a guy with potential? (Likely)
• So why not him? (The answer is probably going to come down to – he never asked me...)
• See, you still believe in gender roles! (Why didn't you ask him?)
